WYTV-DT2 is the MyNetworkTV-affiliated television station for the Mahoning Valley of Northeastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania. It is a second digital subchannel of the area's ABC affiliate WYTV that is owned by PBC Broadcasting but operated by New Vision Television though a shared services agreement (a.k.a. SSA). Over-the-air, the station broadcasts a digital signal on UHF channel 36.2 from WYTV's transmitter on Shady Run Road in Boardman Township. Known on-air as My YTV, this can also be seen on Armstrong Cable channel 13 and in HD on channel 108, and Time Warner Cable digital channel 997.

WYTV-DT2's parent station share studios on Sunset Boulevard in Boardman Township (although the mailing address says Youngstown) with CBS affiliate WKBN-TV and low-powered Fox affiliate WYFX-LD. Syndicated on the station includes: My Wife and Kids, Star Trek: The Next Generation, COPS, and The People's Court. There is no separate website for this channel.

History

On June 13, 2006, WYTV announced that it would launch a new channel in Fall 2006 featuring MyNetworkTV. The move made that station the last full-power channel to launch a secondary subchannel in Youngstown. In Bessemer, Pennsylvania, Comcast replaced WPCW with WYTV-DT2 in October despite the former is a CW affiliate. Armstrong Cable (one of the market's largest cable systems) carries the station on channel 13 replacing WUAB, the MyNetworkTV affiliate in Cleveland. In addition, Comcast and Time Warner systems in Ohio also carry the channel. Comcast carries this station on analog while Time Warner shows it on the digital tier. [1] [2]

It is currently in the works for MyYTV to broadcast in high-definition. The move leaves the future of the "My Valley Weather" subchannel uncertain. As of May 2010, MyYTV is still in standard definition.[3]

Programming

It originally aired eighteen hours of original local programming each week and another 30½ hours of programming that was not original. The station carries taped high school football and basketball "Game of the Week" matchups as well as tape delayed Youngstown State University football along with men's and women's basketball home games. They also aired Mahoning Valley Thunder arena football games and currently show select Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball games. WYTV-DT2 airs a mixture of national and local programs in addition to a now defunct 10 o'clock newscast. The station now mostly carries syndicated fare along with a re-airing of the WYTV weekday morning show.
