WVUT is a television station and member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), located in Vincennes, Indiana. It operates on digital channel 22 and is located at Vincennes University. The station's signal covers much of the Wabash Valley of southwestern Indiana and southeastern Illinois.
The station license dates to October 1959. Originally known as WRAY-TV, the station operated on channel 52 from studios in Princeton, Indiana, sharing space with WRAY-AM. With competition from nearby Evansville television stations, WRAY-TV never saw success as a commercial independent station, and ceased operations. The station license, as well as studio equipment, went to Vincennes University.
In its current incarnation, WVUT signed on in February 15, 1968 as an affiliate of National Educational Television (NET). WVUT joined PBS in 1970.
Local programming includes a student-produced newscast, ("NewsCenter 22"), that airs during the Fall/Winter/Spring school semesters at Vincennes University, as well as a weekly public affairs program ("22 Magazine").
