WSHV is an Urban Adult Contemporary radio station licensed to South Hill, Virginia, serving South Hill and Mecklenburg County, Virginia. WSHV is owned and operated by Lakes Media LLC.
The station was originally known as WJWS and was founded by Mr. John W. Shultz of Martinsville, Virginia, and Mr. Philip F. Hedrick of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They created Patrick-Henry Broadcasting Corporation which held the license for the station. Mr. Shultz was the former manager of Martinsville, Virginia radio station WMVA and Mr. Hedrick was chief engineer of radio station WSJS in Winston-Salem.
WJWS was the second radio station created by the corporation. The first was WHEE, in 1954, and the third was WHEO in Stuart, Virginia. The call letters were created by Mr. Shultz's initials; "W ... John ... Warwick ... Shultz".
