History
Prior to broadcasting at 95.9 FM, WPLS broadcasted at 96.7 FM, now home to class A WROO. When WROO moved in to the area from Greenwood, South Carolina, WPLS was forced off the air due to FCC rules. After several years of silence, Furman University was finally granted a construction permit and the station signed back on at 95.9 FM in 2005. It is a university/college station, and serves as a practice station for college students interested in media/broadcast/journalism and has various shows. Many shows feature independent music.
