WNSB
WNSB is an Mainstream Urban formatted broadcast radio station licensed to Norfolk, Virginia, serving the Hampton Roads. WNSB is owned and operated by Norfolk State University Board of Visitors.
The station is run primarily by students in the Mass Communications and Journalism Department.
History
WNSB first went on the air in on February 22, 1980, broadcasting only 5 hours per day of mostly instructional programming. On April 25, 1980, WNSB radio became the Hampton Roads's first Jazz station broadcasting twelve hours per day. Today, WNSB carries an Urban Contemporary format and broadcasts 24 hours a day.
WNSB is associated with the Tidewater Area Radio Broadcasters, Virginia Association of Broadcasters, Broadcast Education Association, National Association of Broadcasters and the National Broadcasting Society.
