WLKX-FM (95.9 FM) is a radio station licensed to Forest Lake, Minnesota, and primarily serving the far north suburbs of the Twin Cities.[1]
WLKX-FM is owned by Lakes Broadcasting Company, Inc., a private corporation owned by the Peters family, who are primarily fundamentalist Christian-based broadcasters. The station airs contemporary Christian music syndicated and local religious spoken word and workship broadcasting.
The station briefly simulcast with its sister station south of the metro area, KBGY. In 2004, KBGY split off from the simulcast and currently airs a Regional Mexican music format.
WLKX is currently operated on behalf of the Peters family by Milestone Radio, LLC, which is also controlled by the Peters family and which also owns or manages several other stations surrounding the Twin Cities area, including WQPM in Princeton, KLCI in Elk River, and KASM and KDDG in Albany.
The WLKX call letters have been with the station for several decades, and in the past, the station has programmed adult contemporary and country music formats.
