WKTJ-FM is an American FM radio station licenced to Farmington, Maine and on air as Big Hits 99-3 KTJ. The station has been on the air since 1973 but an AM station (co-owned and off the air since the early 1990s) with the same call letters dates back to 1959. WKTJ is the only commercial radio station located in Franklin County, Maine (Non-Commercial radio stations WRGY in Rangeley and University of Maine at Farmington's WUMF also originate from the county). With it being the only local radio station in the Farmington area, the station is widely listened to in the community, with live DJs throughout the day, local features and local sports during the Fall and Winter months.
The Phone Mart is a daily call in flea market. It provides listeners a chance to hear items that are to be bought and sold by callers. It is open to all non-businesses. It airs three times daily Monday through Friday at 8:50 Am 11:50 Am and 4:50 PM. It goes on for approximatively ten minuets.
WKTJ features Big Hits. In January 2005 the station relaunched as "Big Hits 99-3 KTJ" and still with local shows such as The General Store Variety Hour and The Maine Music Hour. The station also carries Boston Red Sox baseball and sports from local high schools. Beginning September 2011, Big Hits 99-3 KTJ began playing current charting hit songs that fit the Adult Hits format audience for Franklin County.
