WHCO 1230 AM is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Sparta, Illinois, the station serves Southwest Illinois, and far South-East Suburban St. Louis. WHCO is currently owned by Hirsch Communication Engineering Corp. [2]

WHCO began in 1955 as a Country Music station. WHCO held Top 40 and Adult Contemporary formats before switching to a News-Talk format in 1998 carrying local programming as well as nationally syndicated hosts such as G. Gordon Liddy, Larry King, and Jim Bohannon. In 2008 WHCO returned to the Country Music format.[3]
