Overview

IMC - Indy's Music Channel (WDNI) is a 24-hour music television station. The main programing focus is playing rock, alternative, hip-hop, R&B, dance and heavy metal music videos seven days a week.

Weekdays feature music shows such as Drive Time with Reka, The Tease (with host and music director) Deacon, The Main Attraction with Scotty Davis, Max Hits with Mikey V, Free Style with JJ, The Rock Block with Rusty, The List with Rayne, Hip Hop Rhythm & Vibes with Jay Rio and The After Party with DJ Wrekk1. The station's program director is Dan McNeal.

Previously, a regular featured on weekdays was The Amos Brown Show, a one-hour local talk show spotlighting notable figures in the local African-American community. As of 2007, it is no longer scheduled. The station was also once a network affiliate of the defunct Network One, and also had local celebrity Bill Shirk host certain shows.

History

The station was founded March 7, 1989 as W53AV, and branded on air as either WAV53 or as Hoosier TV 53. The station aired a variety of programming, including public-domain movies, Cincinnati Reds baseball and was also the local affiliate to carry ECW Hardcore TV on Sunday evenings. In 1999 the station moved from Channel 53 to Channel 65 and took on the new low power calls W65DW. The station was purchased from Hoosier Radio and TV in 2000, and was given the call sign WDNI-LP in 2001, which also signified the inauguration of Indy's Music Channel.

The station moved to channel 19 before February 2009, and is now only in digital TV, after a flash-cut. Because it became a class-A station after it went digital, its broadcast callsign was not given an -LD or -CA suffix, but rather the awkward and rarely-used "-CD" suffix.
