WCWW-LD is the low-powered CW network affiliate in South Bend, Indiana. It is owned by Chicago-based Weigel Broadcasting, who also owns South Bend's ABC affiliate WBND, and MyNetworkTV affiliate WMYS. The station's former calls were WMWB-LP throughout their affiliation with the WB.
On March 1, 2006, Weigel officials announced that WMWB would affiliate with the new CW network when it premiered in September, and Channel 25 changed their calls to WCWW-LP on the day of the network's launch on September 18, 2006.The WCWW calls had belonged to sister station WMYS. The two stations both have bore the WRDY and WYGN calls.
In early August 2008, Weigel Broadcasting agreed to sell all three of its South Bend stations, including WCWW, to Schurz Communications, the longtime owner of the local CBS affiliate WSBT-TV, for undisclosed terms.[1] However, in the absence of action by the Federal Communications Commission, the deal was called off in August 2009.[2]
On December 28, 2010, WCWW-LP turned off its analog signal on channel 25 because of equipment failure.[3]
WCWW-LD's digital signal on channel 27 is multiplexed into the following subchannel lineup:
Channel | Video | Aspect | Programming |
---|---|---|---|
25.1 | 1080i | 16:9 | Main WCWW-LP Programming/CW HD |
25.2 | 480i | 4:3 | This TV |
On September 14, 2007, WCWW and its sister stations began low-power digital broadcasts. WCWW-LD broadcasts with an ERP of 15 kW on channel 25; CW network programming is carried in 1080i HDTV.
In July 2010, WCWW-LD 25.2 began broadcasting This TV.
