WBCX FM 89.1 is a radio station licensed to Gainesville, Georgia, USA. It serves most of Hall and parts of surrounding counties in northeast Georgia, sometimes as far as northeastern metro Atlanta. The student radio station is owned by Brenau College.[1][2]

History

The station began in 1976 as an experiment, broadcasting 10 watts to the college campus and immediate area only. This was increased to 840 watts in the 1986 (after several years of modified and expired construction permits), which enabled the station to reach well beyond campus, as the region grew in population due to the proximity of Atlanta and Lake Lanier.
