Vénissieux (Vènissiœx in the Lyonnais dialect of Arpitan language) is a commune in the Rhône department in eastern France. It is the second-largest suburb of the city of Lyon, and is adjacent to the southeast. The name Vénissieux derives from Latin Viniciacum, itself crafted upon a Roman villa landlord named Vinicius.
