Vladimír Dlouhý (born 31 July, 1953) is a Czech economist and politician. He served as the nation's very first Minister of Industry and Trade under then-Prime Minister Václav Klaus.[1]
After studying at the University of Economics in Prague and KU Leuven, Dlouhý completed his postgraduate degree at the Charles University.
Dlouhý was appointed as an economic expert to the National Economic Council of the Government by then-Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek. He served on the council for its whole duration of eight months.
Nowadays, Dlouhý is a lecturer at the University of Economics and Charles University. He's also an adviser to Goldman Sachs in Central Europe.
There are rumors that Dlouhý will become Prime Minister Jan Fischer's pick as a member of the European Commission for the Czech Republic for its next term.[2]
