Visioneer, Inc. is a privately owned company based in Pleasanton, California. Per the company website, "Visioneer is a world-class developer of intelligent imaging solutions that provide a faster and easier way to capture documents and photographs and integrate them with popular Microsoft Windows and document imaging applications."
Founded in 1994, Visioneer broke new ground and quickly became the leader in consumer imaging hardware products with the introduction of the first easy to use sheetfed scanner called the PaperMax.[1]
Visioneer's proprietary software application known as PaperPort was spun off and sold in 1998. The hardware side of the business was sold to Primax Electronics, but later bought back by a private investor.
August 2003, Visioneer announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Xerox to develop and market Xerox-branded document scanners and digital projectors under the Xerox DocuMate brand name.[2]
