Bishrampur is a census town in Surajpur district in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh.

As of the 2001 India census,[1] Bishrampur had a population of 12,366. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Bishrampur has an average literacy rate of 77%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 70%. In Bishrampur, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Bishrampur's economy depends on coal mines. South Eastern Coalfields Limited is the only coal mining company.
Bishrampur is a town and a nagar panchayat. It is 12 km south east from the district headquarters Surajpur. National Highway 78 passes through Bishrampur. Asia's largest drag-line machines for coal excavation are located in Bishrampur; they are named Shiv and Shakti. They were imported from United States of America in 1962.
Bishrampur has both government and privates schools, using both Hindi and English as teaching languages.
There are two colleges: one is Shashakiya Mahavidyalaya meaning 'government college'. The second college is a private institution named Veena Girls College. Both colleges are affiliated to Surguja University, Ambikapur.
DAV Public School, Carmel Convent School and Maharana Pratap public school use English as a teaching medium.

There is a railway station 1 km from the Bishrampur Market. The 18242 Durg Ambikapur Express, the 11266 Ambikapur Jabalpur Superfast Express pass through. Local trains, such as ABM, connecting Bishrampur with the cities Raipur, Anuppur, Bilaspur and Jabalpur.
Aayappa Mandir is situated near the SECL's 1/B colony. Aayappa Temple is one of the famous temples and tourist attractions. Its structure is similar to those in Chennai.The Devotees of Bishrampur and its locality have great faith in Aayappa Bhagwan (Shani Dev) and during Pongal this place becomes a major attraction also in makar sankranti which is organised widely by the people.
