Vesterbrogade

Vesterbrogade is the main shopping street of the Vesterbro district of Copenhagen, Denmark. It extends west for 1.5 km from the Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square) along the municipal border with Frederiksberg (which it finally enters) to Pile Allé where it turns into Roskildevej. On the way it passes the Copenhagen Central Station as well as the small triangular Vesterbro Torv.

Vesterbrogade arose when the country road leading in and out of Copenhagen's Western City Gate was urbanized in the second half of the 19th century after the city's old fortifications was decommissioned and the no-build zone outside them released. It is one of four such -bro streets.[1]
