Veracruz (Spanish: [beɾaˈkɾuθ]) or Beranui (Catalan: [bəɾəˈnuj], locally: [beɾaˈnuj]) is a municipality located in the Ribagorza comarca, province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2010 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 104 inhabitants.
The 9th - 11th century Santa María de Obarra monastery is located within the municipal term, at the foot of the Sierra de Sis range.
The paronym Veracuz is a Castilianization of the traditional name Beranui that disregarded the natural linguistic correspondence.[1]
