Veerappanchatram is a Neighbourhood locality in the City of Erode. Until 2010, it was an independent Municipal Administrative body with a population of about 75,000 and in 2011, it has been officially combined with the Integrated Erode Municipal Corporation.
And presently, this has been converted as the Zonal Head Quarters for one of the four zones of Erode Municipal Corporation, combining 15 Wards. It is one of the thickly populated locality near the city of Erode. The major Residential areas in this zone are Veerappan Chatram, Asokapuram, Karungalpalayam, Krishnampalayam, Vairapalayam and Sampath Nagar.
The main occupation is textiles and agriculture. Many doctors, engineers and businesspeople from this regions are now living in various countries. Many young software engineers are working in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi.
