Vanavasi is a town panchayat popular for the hand loom silk sarees and its temples.Vanavasi is the famous place in Salem District for Silk sarees.Power looms factories also there in vanavasi.Powerlooms are involved in synthtic saree manufacturing. Among the diverse castes, Devanga Chettiar and Senguntha Mudaliyar are high in population.Every Thursday a weekly market gathers here.
