Valsøyfjord is a village and a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located along the Arasvikfjorden, just west of the Valsøyfjorden and the Valsøy Bridge. The highway E39 runs through the village. There are about 800 people living in the Valsøyfjord area, and most of the people are working in agriculture and public services. Other villages in the area of the former municipality include Valsøybotnen, Hjellnes, and Engan.[1]
The municipality of Valsøyfjord was established on 1 January 1894 when it was separated from the municipality of Aure. The initial population of Valsøyfjord was 942. On 1 January 1965, the part of Valsøyfjord on the island of Ertvågsøy (population: 141) was transferred to the municipality of Aure. On the same date, the rest of the municipality (population: 1,104) was merged into the municipality of Halsa.[3]
