Utetheisa
Utetheisa is a genus of arctiid moths in subfamily Arctiinae. The members of its subgenera Pitasila, Atasca and Raanya were formerly included in Nyctemera. How closely related these two genera are exactly is a matter of dispute – and on the answer depends whether Utetheisa is placed in the tribe Callimorphini (as it is provisionally treated here), or in the Nyctemerini. Some arrangements, however, simply merge these two tribes.[2]
Caterpillars of many Utetheisa species feed on Crotalaria (rattlebox), and hence the genus as a whole is often called rattlebox moths (though note that "Crotalaria Moth" specifically refers to U. lotrix). The adults are usually bright and colorful.
