State elections was held in Upper Austria on 27 September 2009. The SPÖ lost a lot of its votes, falling even behind the 1999 result, while the FPÖ gained strongly and both incumbent governing parties ÖVP and Greens held steady. The BZÖ failed to enter the Landtag.[1]
