UnoAErre Italia, which is based in Arezzo, is an Italian goldsmith and jewelry company. UnoAErre is one of the world's largest company specializing in the manufacture, distribution and export of gold and jewelry worldwide. These days in its production, the company uses equipment designed to complement the traditional craftsmanship of the Arezzo goldsmiths with the latest modern technology.
It was founded on March 15, 1926 by Leopoldo Gori and Carlo Zucchi, the two "fathers" of the first goldsmith company in the city of Arezzo, which had the original idea to apply industrial methodologies to the goldsmith’s art, keeping at minimum the cost of work on metal. The name UnoAErre comes from 1AR, the identification mark indicated on the punch affixed to products, assigned to the first goldsmith company of Arezzo (AR).
In the sixties production reached the highest levels. The UnoAErre gave work to more than 1200 employees.
It began a reduction of its workforce in the early 70. Today employees are under 500 units. The company passed from the hands of families Gori-Zucchi to Morgenf Enfield (Deutsche Bank Group) in the mid 90, was regained by Zucchi family with the help of a group of banks. The last decade has been one of the most troubled in the history of the Company: in recent months the turning point with the draft moving to a new factory, accompanied by the implementation of an industrial revival.
UnoAErre has realized an inner museum with works of the artists who have collaborated to the production of its jewels (like Pietro Cascella, Salvador Dalí and Salvatore Fiume); there's also a section of industrial archaeology in order not to disperse the historical memory of its activity of gold production, during more than seventy-five years of life.
