The University Of Lahore (or UOL) was established in 1999 as a private university by the Ibadat Educational Trust. It is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. The university is the only private sector university to be ranked in the Times Higher Educational Supplement University Rankings as in the top 500 in the world from 2005-2008 and in top 700 in 2009 & 2010.

History and Introduction

The University of Lahore (UOL) has played a major role in developing learning and research that would provide students, wanting to study in the private sector, with a greater choice of courses. The objective has always been strengthened by developing excellence in teaching, learning and research at UOL.

This has also allowed UOL to become one of the finest institutions of higher education in Pakistan. The University is accredited by the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan. The University has also achieved the highest ranking ('w' ranking) with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Our approach to excellence has allowed the University to be ranked among the top 500 universities of the World (QS & Times Higher Education Supplement 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008).

UOL continues to be at the forefront of research and continually strives to produce excellent graduates in areas of Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Language and Literature, Information Technology and through its Business School (Lahore Business School).

The University of Lahore (UOL) has two campuses in Lahore and one campus in Islamabad. The two campuses at Lahore are situated at Raiwind Road and at Defence Road close to Thokar Niaz Baig. The two campuses have a total constructed area of 650,000 sq. ft.

The University has a central library at Raiwind Road and specialized libraries for Lahore Business School and the Faculty of Medicine at the Defence Road Campus.

All undergraduate programs run at the UOL, are recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the government regulatory body, in Pakistan. The University also has accreditations for its engineering, pharmacy, medical & dental programs from Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), Pharmacy Council of Pakistan and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) respectively.
