The University of Dodoma is a university currently under construction in the Tanzanian city of Dodoma.
Building is taking place on a 6,000 hectare site near Dodoma, a regional centre about 400 km due west of Dar es Salaam.
Teaching began in 2007 when just over 1,000 students enrolled for programmes offered in the schools of Humanities, and Social Sciences, as well as the colleges of Education, and Informatics and Virtual Education. Schools of Life Sciences, and Health and Allied Sciences were launched in 2008.
In line with the country’s National Development Vision 2025, the University of Dodoma, when fully operational, will be able to enrol 40,000 students in a variety of academic disciplines. This is more than double the present size of the University of Dar es Salaam.[1]
