United States House of Representatives elections in Wisconsin, 2012

The 2012 United States House of Representatives elections in Wisconsin will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 to elect the eight U.S. Representatives from Wisconsin, one from each of the state's eight congressional districts. Representatives are elected for two-year terms; those elected will serve in the 112th Congress from January 2013 until January 2015. The elections will coincide with the elections of other federal and state offices, including a quadrennial presidential election and an election to the U.S. Senate. Primary elections will be held on August 14, 2012.[1]

Redistricting

A redistricting bill was passed by the Wisconsin State Senate on June 21, 2011[2] and signed into law by Governor Scott Walker on August 9.[3]

District 1

Republican Paul Ryan, who has represented Wisconsin's 1st congressional district since 1999, will not run for the U.S. Senate[4] or seek the Republican presidential nomination[5] in 2012 and is expected to seek re-election.[6] Rob Zerban, a member of the Kenosha County Board and former small business owner, will run for the Democratic nomination.[7]

District 2

Democrat Tammy Baldwin, who has represented Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district since 1999, will run for the U.S. Senate.[8] State representatives Mark Pocan and Kelda Roys,[9] Dane County Treasurer Dave Worzala,[10] and decorated combat veteran Matt Silverman[11] will seek the Democratic nomination to succeed Baldwin. State senator Jon Erpenbach, who had been considering a bid, will not run.[12]

District 3

Democrat Ron Kind, who has represented Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district since 1997, will not run for the U.S. Senate[13] and will seek re-election. Ray Boland, a former state Secretary of Veterans Affairs, will seek the Republican nomination to challenge Kind.[14]

Republican Sean Duffy, who has represented Wisconsin's 7th congressional district since January 2011, is expected to seek re-election. Former state senator Pat Kreitlow will run for the Democratic nomination to challenge Duffy.[15] State representative Janet Bewley will not seek the Democratic nomination.[16]

Republican Reid Ribble, who has represented Wisconsin's 8th congressional district since January 2011, will run for re-election.[17] Jamie Wall, a business consultant and unsuccessful primary candidate for the 8th district in 2006, will seek the Democratic nomination to challenge Ribble.[18]
