The owner of the Bonanza Mall in Siam Square plans opened the new shopping complex worth 2.7 billion baht at the Lat Phrao junction in December 2006. Thanks to its prime location that attracts 1.5 million people a day from 11 surrounding districts, the Union Mall is expected to break even within eight years, said Jirapat Sirijit, managing director of the developer Siam Jatujak Co. With small shops and booths like the Bonanza Mall, the complex will have a different concept from others in the area. Located on a 23-rai plot, Union Mall has a total area of more than 150,000 square metres and a parking lot for over 2,000 cars. The eight-storey building houses 1,240 booths and shops, as well as entertainment areas.
In addition to an international food court, the complex houses stores of brand-name products, cosmetics, fashion and ornaments, mobile phones and electronic products, auto show and car accessories, home-decoration items and gifts. It also has tutorial schools, banking services and entertainment facilities.
An open-air market is located outside Union Mall. There an interesting range of clothing items, bags, shoes, and fashion accessories at affordable prices. The market is open everyday from 17:00 onwards.
