Union County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. In the 2010 United States Census, the population was 28,961. Its county seat is Union.[1] It is included in the Union, South Carolina, Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is further included in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson combined statistical area, commonly referred to as Upstate South Carolina.

The county's Carnegie Library was named Best Small Library in America by Library Journal for 2009.[2]
