Ukkadam is a neighbourhood of the city of Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.[1]
Most of the inhabitants are followers of Hinduism. However, there is a considerable presence of Muslims. The Kottaimedu area of Ukkadam has a strong Muslim majority. Ukkadam was one of the areas affected by riots that happened in the aftermath of the 1998 Coimbatore bombings.[1]
Ukkadam Bus Stand, one of the five major bus stands of the city, is located in this neighbourhood. Inter-city buses to Palakkad, Pollachi, Palani and Udumalpet (Udumalai) start from here. Town buses to the southern and the south-western suburbs of Coimbatore, either start from or pass through this bus stand.
