Ubristes is a genus of hoverflies. There are 61 known species. All are characterized by the metatibia whinch is usually enlarged, but always with a brush of long pile along the dorsal edge. These flies are probably mimics of the stingless bees in the tribe Meliponini.[1].
The presence or absence of the appendix on vein R4+5 is variable with in this group. They are further divided into the subgroups Hypselosyrphus, Stipomorpha, Ubristes by the shape of the abdomen.

Larvae feed as scavengers in the nest of the ants.
They are native to the Neotropics.[1].
