TYR Sport, Inc. is an American manufacturer of recreational and competitive swimwear, swim caps and goggles. It was co-founded in 1985 by Olympic medalist and former USA Swimming Co-Captain Steve Furniss. TYR is based in Huntington Beach, California. Contrary to popular belief, its name is not an acronym. Rather, the company is named after Tyr (pronounced like "tier"), the Norse god of victory. The company makes products for swimming, diving, water polo, and triathlon.
TYR Sport is a subsidiary of Swimwear Anywhere, the second-largest swimwear manufacturer in the United States. Its chief competitors for market share are Speedo, Arena (swimwear), Blueseventy and Nike.

TYR has focused on development of hi-technology fabric suits for the past three Olympiads. The company began research on full body suits in 1999 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center, concluding that their suits were capable of reducing drag by 6%. In 2004, TYR became the first company to break down the components of drag caused by racing suits. Assisted by the University of Buffalo and the State University of New York, TYR's suits proved to reduce pressure drag by 18%, wave drag by 53% and overall drag by 10%.
Beginning at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in 1999, full body suit tests concluded drag reduction was achieved by 6% at the International Center for Aquatic Research. Results were published in the Journal of Medicine, Science, Sports & Exercise.
