Tromsøysundet (Northern Sami: Romssanuorri) is a strait located in the municipality of Tromsø in Troms county, Norway. It separates the island of Tromsøya (where the city centre is) from the mainland east of the island. The strait is crossed by the Tromsøysund Tunnel (E8 highway) and the Tromsø Bridge. The strait is about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) long and it is about 0.6 to 3 kilometres (0.37 to 1.9 mi) wide.[1]
