Tritoma
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Coleoptera
Family: Erotylidae
Genus: Tritoma
Fabricius, 1775

Tritoma is a genus of beetles in the family Erotylidae. There is also plant genus of the same name, which is a synonym of Kniphofia.

Taxonomy

Although the authority for the genus is sometimes given as Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has ruled (Opinion 1754 [1]) that the accepted authority for Tritoma is Fabricius. Recent molecular work [2] suggests that Tritoma is paraphyletic.
