Tripurantakam

Tripurantakam is a village and mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

Tripurantakam is located at a distance of 40 km from Markapur, 93 km from Ongole and around 150 km from Vijayawada. A famous temple dedicated to Sri Tripurantakeswara Swamy is located here.The temple is on the top of a small hill. It is considered to be the Eastern gateway to the famous Srisailam temple.

Another temple dedicated to Sri Bala Tripura Sundari is located down the hill,adjoining a lake. The deity here lies in the middle of water.A Srichakram is present here, to which the pujas are done if the main deity is immersed in water.There is a legend about the temple of Tripurantakam.The lord Shiva killed a demon called Thripura at this place.For this reason this is considered as Thripurantakam.Shivaratri festival is very famous here with people from the surrounding areas visiting this temple.The festival is celebrated for three days. Dasara Navaratrulu are also celebrated with pomp and glory.
