Trimethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate is a methylating agent. It is the methyl analog to triethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate. Commercially available, this compound is prepared similarly, by reaction of boron trifluoride etherate with dimethyl ether and epichlorohydrin.[1]
