Trichogaster (formerly Colisa) is a small genus of tropical or subtropical Asian freshwater labyrinth fish of the gourami family. Species of this genus are popular aquarium fishes. The specimens stocked in the hobby today include several color morphs as well as hybrids.
The name Trichogaster used to be used for the genus of larger south-east asian gouramis now called Trichopodus. The genus Trichogaster used to be called Colisa. This was however revised by recent taxonomy studies.
