Toxolophosaurus cloudi was found by Olson in 1960[2] in the Kootenai Formation, 223.75 feet above the base of the Kootenai.[3]
Toxolophosaurus was named a member of Sphenodontidae by Michael Benton in 1985.[2] It is closely related to Priosphenodon and Eilenodon.
Toxolophosaurus was herbivorous, meaning that it ate only plants.[1]
