Torngat's popularity increased with the 2005 release of their EP La Rouge. During the spring of 2006 and after increasing demand, Torngat toured Eastern Canada. Torngat signed a two-album deal with Montreal experimental label Alien8 Recordings.[1] The band recorded a full-length album You Could Be, which was released on September 19, 2007.[2] Amato formerly was horn player of Arcade Fire and currently a member for The Luyas and Bell Orchestre. The band named themselves for the Torngat Mountains because the mountains' untamed nature matched the band's open and improvisational style.[3]
All members interchange instruments throughout their shows.
