Torak (Žitište)
Torak or Torac (Торак, Torac in Romanian), formerly known as Begejci (Бегејци), is a village in Serbia. It is situated in the Žitište municipality, in the Central Banat District, Vojvodina province. The village has a Romanian ethnic majority and its population numbering 2,850 people (2002 census).
Geography
Historically, the village was made from two parts - one named Mali Torak (Hungarian: Kis-Tárnok, "little Torak"), and another named Veliki Torak (Hungarian: Nagy-Tárnok, "great Torak").
