A neighbor had ramps in his barn and often invited Tony to skate there.[2] Trujillo started competing in skate contests when he was 12 in the California Amateur Skateboard League, winning one at the age of 12 and placing in numerous others.[1] At the age of 14, Trujillo obtained his first sponsor, Anti-Hero, turning pro for them at age 16.[1] Vans gave Trujillo his own signature shoe line and put Tony in two commercials shot by Stacy Peralta to advertise the shoe.[3]
On December 7, 2002, Thrasher Magazine announced that Tony had been voted their thirteenth annual Skateboarder Of The Year.[4]
August 2005 Tony placed 2nd in San Jose, CA in the Mountain Dew Tour

Tony married his drummer, Ashley Trujillo, and has a son Waylon born in December 2008.
