History

IPEC began operations in Adelaide and Melbourne in early 1955 as Interstate Parcel Express Company. IPEC pioneered the road linehaul and overnight freight industry as we know it in Australia by sending a vehicle from each depot, meeting half way to swap freight and returning to their origins for the morning delivery runs.[1] After this route was successful, new routes were opened between major capital cities over the ensuing years, employing similar founding principles, expanding throughout the country.

IPEC was purchased from Mayne Nickless in 1998 by Toll Holdings and renamed Toll IPEC.
