Titu (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈtitu]) is a town in Dâmboviţa County, southern Romania with a population of 10,226 as of 2002[update], best known for its yearly September 14 bâlci (fair).
Titu is divided into three main zones. These are:
The town administers five villages: Fusea, Hagioaica, Mereni, Plopu and Sălcuţa.
On March 22, 2007, the Romanian Agency for Foreign Investment, or ARIS, signed with France's carmaker Renault, a memorandum on implementing an investment project to build a car research and design center worth about EUR450 million in the town of Titu. It has been reported that up to 3,000 new jobs will be created at the site.
