Tilst

Tilst is a suburban area of Århus, Denmark situated some 10 km to the west of Århus.

The Tilst area is notably marked by big city blocks and large traditional suburban areas. In the surrounding area are several superstores, which mainly service the inner city population of Århus. The area is most commonly known for the large Bilka, the only one of its kind in the Århus area.

The area is divided by the Viborgvej road, with Tilst on the northern side, and the True and Skjoldhøj area situated to the south, bordering Brabrand and Hasle. The presence of numerous ethnic groups makes Tilst a multicultural suburb of Århus.

Although Tilst is a suburb of Århus, it is divided into different districts. Each district is usually known by location or names of the streets. One area for example is known as "the flower quarter" (blomsterkvarteret) since all the streets are named after flowers.

The local public school is Tilst Skole, and the local gymnasium is called Langkær Gymnasium og HF.

The local church, Tilst Kirke, has a beautiful altar and regularly has services.
