Tilaurakot was the cardinal point of the ancient Shakyan city of Kapilavastu. It is situated west to Lumbini Grove, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. It is a village development committee in Kapilvastu District in the Lumbini Zone of southern Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 5684 people living in 944 individual households.[1]
