Thung Chang (Thai: ทุ่งช้าง) is a district (Amphoe) in the northern part of Nan Province, northern Thailand.

History

Thung Chang district dates back to the Kwaeng Khun Nan (ขุนน่าน), which was converted into the district Lae (และ) in 1914. In 1961 it was renamed to Thung Chang, as the district office had been moved to tambon Thung Chang.[1][2]

Geography

Neighboring are from the east clockwise Chaloem Phra Kiat, Pua, Chiang Klang and Song Khwae of Nan Province. To the north is Xaignabouli of Laos.

Administration

The district is subdivided into 4 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 44 villages (muban). Thung Chang is a township (thesaban tambon) which covers parts of the tambon Lae and Thung Chang. There are further 4 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
