Throwback is a public artwork by American artist Tony Smith, located at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., United States.[1] The sculpture also resides in the collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and is currently on display in their rooftop sculpture garden.[2]

This painted aluminum abstract work is signature of Tony Smith's style - painted black it features tetrahedrons and octahedrons assembled end to end.[1]
The piece was a museum purchase in 1980.[3]
"Throwback" was acquired in 1980 by SFMOMA with purchase funds from the William L. Gerstle Collection.[2]
