Thornbury and Yate is a parliamentary constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.

This seat is a successor to the former Northavon constituency, which is abolished following boundary changes taking effect at the 2010 general election.[2] It is named after the two main towns in the constituency: Thornbury and Yate.

Boundaries

Following the review by the Boundary Commission for England of parliamentary representation in the former county of Avon, a new seat of Thornbury and Yate has been created. The electoral wards used in the creation of this new seat are all from the district of South Gloucestershire, and are as follows:[2]

This seat was fought for the first time at the 2010 general election. It was the first Liberal Democrat victory to be declared on the evening of 6 May.
