Saleby is a village in the East Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, England - it is part of the civil parish of Beesby with Saleby.

Saleby is situated on the Alford road to Louth, and is about 2 miles north east of Alford, and 11 miles south-east of Louth.

Saleby is mentioned in Domesday book as Saleby, and the Lord of the Manor was Guy of Craon.[1]

The Anglican parish church is dedicated to St. Margaret. It was rebuilt in 1850 by Stephen Lewin, of buff brick, restored in 1958, and is a Grade II listed building.[2]

In the chancel is an recess which contains a full length effigy of a knight in chain mail and surcoat, to Sir William de Hardreshull who died in 1303.[3]

In the chancel floor is a brass: "to John Haryinton of Wickham, in the county of Lincoln, who built this chapel, 1592, being lord and patron of Salebie and lieth in st Sepulchres church, London and died 12th May 1599".[3]

At the east end of the chancel is the datestone of the old chapel bearing the Haryinton Arms and dated 1591.[3]

The base and shaft of a stone churchyard cross are in the churchyard at Saleby.[4]

A school was built in Saleby in 1845 as a national school. It appears to have closed in 1932.[5]

The hamlet of Thoresthorpe lies about a mile south of the village.
