Mission

The Willows Academy is an independent school for young women in grades six to twelve. The school provides a college-preparatory academic program which it claims to achieve in a "moral atmosphere complementary to that of the home and character formation designed to instill lifelong values". The Willows Academy is inspired by the teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirituality of the Prelature of Opus Dei.

History

The school was founded in 1974 by a group of parents and educators in the Chicago area. They wanted to create a learning environment that would combine academic excellence, personal attention to each student, and sound moral formation in partnership with parents.

Academics

The Willows Academy curriculum is based on the liberal arts. The Academy's low student-to-faculty ratio allows students to receive the full attention of the teachers. Willows keeps course enrollment small to maintain an intimate learning environment. Academic courses are taught at the honors or advanced placement level. Twenty-seven credits are required for graduation. The academic program meets the requirements of all major universities.

Athletics

The Willows Academy has four sports that compete under IHSA regulations in the Class A division. The Willows offers a variety of athletics to girls in all grades.

The Willows is associated with the Independent Schools League (ISL) and competes in inter-league volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball and soccer.
