The Str8jackets

The Str8jackets are a London based trio composed of Mark Robinson, Dave Longmore and Phil Fearon.

The Str8jackets had their first major musical recognition courtesy of BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong who playing their bootleg remix of The Black Eyed Peas’ "Boom Boom Pow" and their own track "What's it All About?" supported twice on his Essential Selection.[1]

The Str8jackets have worked with producers and artists including Kim English, Hoxton Whores, Bassmonkeys, Lucien Foort, Jaykay, Richie Dan, Ini Kamoze, Katherine Ellis, Inaya Day, Tyree Cooper, MC Chickaboo, and Missy Mak and have released tracks and remixes on labels like Time Records, Big In Ibiza, CR2, Peppermint Jam, and Nervous NYC.[2]

Phil Fearon [3] had several Top 10 Chart hits in the 1980s with his group Galaxy. Their ‘Dancin Tight’ record reached No 4 in the UK singles chart. Phil used to write & perform with Stock, Aitken & Waterman. In the 1990s Phil set up the drum & bass and breaks label, ‘Production House’ where he helped to launch the career of Baby D who hit # 1 with ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ in 1994.[4]

Dave Longmore (aka Leggz) first made his mark in music working as part of the UK Garage production outfit, Ruff N Tumble.[5] After releasing their first single, ‘I’ll Give You More’ featuring Taka Boom Ruff N Tumble went on to remix artists such as Shola Ama, Sweetie Irie and Ultra Nate.

Mark Robinson first got into the music business running his own Record Store in London and hosting the prime time show on London Pirate Radio station, ‘Girls FM’. He toured the UK playing at Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Club UK, The Cross, The Coliseum, Bagleys and touring with Kinky Malinki. Mark then set up his own live internet radio station called Soho Live. It was here that he met Mousse T and Simon Marlin from German Label, Peppermint Jam who subsequently asked Mark to join their team. 7 Years on Mark is now heading up A&R and UK operations for Peppermint Jam and is a resident DJ for their ‘Hint of Mint’ parties.

Their new release with MC Chickaboo, "Move & Rock" (signed to Big In Ibiza records) received its first BBC Radio 1 play on Sunday 5 July on Seani B's 1Xtra mixtape show [6]
